Leo B Posted February 9, 2022 Report Posted February 9, 2022 (edited) How many Avantis had inverted reservation tank version? Filling cap is on drivers side. #1001 Engine #1002. More? Was this only one? I dont know answer. Maybe you know🤔  Edited February 9, 2022 by Leo B Add engine no
Dwight FitzSimons Posted February 9, 2022 Report Posted February 9, 2022 I think the LeMay Museum later corrected this one, because there are pictures of 63R1001's engine with the expansion tank's cap on the passenger's side. I suspect that none was made by Studebaker with the cap on the driver's side. Probably many of these expansion tanks have been opened up (due to a leak) and re-soldered backwards by mistake. My Avanti R5255 has a beautifully redone expansion tank. The radiator cap was indeed soldered on backwards by the shop, but the then owner of the car made them reverse it. --Dwight
64studeavanti Posted February 9, 2022 Report Posted February 9, 2022 I had one repaired about 20 years ago. He soldered the water inlet backward. Did not notice until 5 years ago when I had trouble replacing upper hose. Fixed it then
