1963r2 Posted January 3, 2022 Report Posted January 3, 2022 While we are talking about the blacked out grill area of the Avanti I thought I would ask this question. Is the headlight area on a 63 Avanti ie behind the front glass/plastic covers body colour or black? I have later 63 body I'm working on which was white however the headlight area was painted black. Any thoughts? pb
Gunslinger Posted January 3, 2022 Report Posted January 3, 2022 I've seen both...body color and blacked out. They could each have easily been done post-Studebaker but I believe the factory painted them body color. Considering the financial condition of Studebaker it seems unlikely the added costs of masking and painting the headlight area a separate color would have been a non-starter.
lschuc Posted January 3, 2022 Report Posted January 3, 2022 For all 1963 Avantis, the headlight bucket behind the glass cover were all painted body color.
1963r2 Posted January 3, 2022 Author Report Posted January 3, 2022 Thanks for the reply's. Body colour it is. pb
