psdenno Posted January 26, 2015 Report Posted January 26, 2015 What was the factory recommended fix for a loose inside rear view mirror?
Gunslinger Posted January 26, 2015 Report Posted January 26, 2015 Studebaker made available a new mounting stem that dealers could get from a parts depot.
psdenno Posted January 26, 2015 Author Report Posted January 26, 2015 Could be, but there was a factory recommended "fix" for existing loose stems Any idea what that was?
Gunslinger Posted January 26, 2015 Report Posted January 26, 2015 That would be the use of a small washer on each ball stud and a small amount of heavy grease. It was apparently a stopgap until the new stem was available.
psdenno Posted January 26, 2015 Author Report Posted January 26, 2015 The washers were the fix listed in a service letter.
lschuc Posted January 26, 2015 Report Posted January 26, 2015 thanks... didn't know that service letter fix.... (I probably would have used duct tape!! )
Gunslinger Posted January 26, 2015 Report Posted January 26, 2015 What I did was wrap some teflon tape around the ball stud and tighten the stem up...but I have a non-standard mirror but the teflon tape fix works fine.
mfg Posted January 27, 2015 Report Posted January 27, 2015 The 'washer fix' is interesting....never heard of this before!
