Just got mine in the mail. Looking forward to the read.

Fuel is warmed in the fuel line fuel pump and fuel filter. The return line at the filter returns some of the warmed fuel to the tank.

Hopefully the pictures that don’t show up can be restored. A lot of helpful information will be lost if they aren’t. Steve.

I had an SN60 that was stamped SN60 DO. It had an oil pressure line fitting where the dipstick would go and a drain fitting on the bottom. I ran it for a while and then replaced it with a self contained SN60. The engine oil made the supercharger hot hot all the time. Steve

When I first saw this trivia question I thought it was a no brainer. The 61-62 and 63-64 ( or 56-64 ) bell housing / clutch housing have a different bolt pattern, part number and casting number so they wouldn’t interchange. So the answer was false. But even after 50+ years of owning and working on Studebaker and Avanti cars and Studebaker trucks I am still learning. I have both type of housings so I took some pictures. On the 61-62 housing I marked where the bolt holes would go to make that housing work for ether bolt pattern, my plan is to put the 61-62 housing in the 59 Lark for some spirited driving. I have 4 speeds with both pattern and different 1st gear ratio’s so with this new knowledge I will drill it for both bolt patterns. Well played mfg. Thank you Steve

I have the McCulloch set up (Pulleys and bracket) with an SN Paxton on a 59 lark.

False. The 61 bell housing would need a 61-62 Stude T10. Or the 64 T10 would need a 63-64 bell housing.

"Standard" Stude V8 fuel pump vs. Avanti R1 fuel pump
A0136 replied to Mark L's topic in 1963-64 Avanti
If you’re not worried about keeping original a filter like this would work. Just run a 1/4” hose down to the return line. this is a NAPA 3054 filter -
"Standard" Stude V8 fuel pump vs. Avanti R1 fuel pump

This is a picture from the work shop manual. The second picture is a screen grab from a posting on rebuilding an R series pump. I had time to dig thru some boxes today and found the restrictor fitting from R1358. The third and fourth picture show the restrictor fitting. A #57 (.043) drill bit just fits snuggly. -

I don’t have a fitting that I can get to to measure the restriction. Hopefully someone else here does -

Did you still have the original fittings. I believe there is a restrictor in the fitting. -
"Standard" Stude V8 fuel pump vs. Avanti R1 fuel pump

Mark There are 3 tests you will want to do. pressure, volume and inlet vacuum They are outlined in the Avanti workshop manual. New filter? There must be some reason the return line was capped off??? -

Mark The R1 and R2 pumps are a little larger in diameter for more volume and have a stronger diaphragm spring for higher pressure. The fuel pump on top is the standard 61-64 3155S pump 3 1/2 to 5 1/2 psi The second pump is an R1 3509S pump 5-7 psi The third pump is an R2 3508S pump 5-7 psi -
Good to hear you got the Avanti running. Yes check the switch adjustment. Steve

Greg The starter cut out switch and neutral safety switch are the same thing. The starter cut out switch is mounted on the side of the transmission. Look in the transmission section for adjustment info. Try moving the shift lever from park to neutral while you have the key in the start position—- foot on the brake pedal. Follow the positive battery cable from the battery, it will connect to the magnetic switch (solenoid)
