  1. This is a set of reproduction headers I bought in the late 90’s early 2000. I haven’t cleaned the casting flash up yet. The other parts are a mounting bracket for the generator/ alternator.

    Stude V8 Swap?

Skip Did you mean 1972 and 1973 for EGR?
  3. Still not available for me.
  4. I haven’t been able to get on ether.
  5. I would second the contact Dan Booth. i replaced the cable in my 67 Avanti II. The Cable was ok but the housing was broken. I took a few pictures but deleted most of them after I was done and the turn signals were working. The switch had gotten water in it and was stuck, I think that caused the plastic housing to break. The steering wheel and top portion of the column will need to be removed. The first mistake I made was pulling the cable out the bottom and not attaching a wire to snake the new cable back in. I like fishing but not when they are not biting but after many attempts and a couple of bait changes I got a piece of bailing/mechanics wire up thru the column. Then was able to pull the new cable in. As best I remember I did a lot of google searching and found some write-ups for Oldsmobile and Buicks with the similar Saginaw tilt column's. Steve This is where the black plastic housing was broken. This is the top of the cable. The new cable has a metal housing These are the only pictures I saved.
  6. I have a 67 Avanti II with AC. It has 1 7/8” of spacers on both sides in the front. The wheel well openings are about 2” lower than the openings on my 63.
  7. This is a colorized version that has the different system's separated. Scroll down to the 63-64 Avanti. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1eSSmIKiSS8lzc9kPYRm4Uk3yeu72TIlj This is a link to a post from a SDC member on the SDC message board. Steve.
  8. Dobb This is easier to read than the shop manual version. Power from the alt. Goes to the regulator and then thru the amp meter before going to the battery, so check those connections and for continuity thru the amp meter also. Steve.
  9. This was in the meet hotel lobby. Nelson had his #1 Daytona convertible inside the swap meet building.
  10. Nelson i will be here until Saturday. I did bring the fan shroud. Steve.
  11. I will be there also. Am looking forward to meeting other members of the AOAI. Steve.
  12. Mark i am driving. I am 90 miles west of Spokane but go there often for grand kids activity’s. I could bring it back for you. I won’t be back home until after the 4th of October. Steve.
  13. I am driving and will be able to bring it with me. I will send you a e-mail. Steve
  14. My experience after ruining 2 V-8 transmissions is that the 6 cylinder driveline is about 1” longer than the V-8. be sure to measure any driveline you use and don't install one that is longer than it should be. Steve
  15. Nelson i am in Washington State. i will be attending the international next month.
  16. Nelson Are you still looking. I have one, cracked on one side. Steve
  17. Sleeve accelerator push rod. 513536X1 More commonly called the accelerator boot.
  18. Canuck E Yes and no. The earlier Larks and later Larks have slightly different lengths. Later Larks (Crusier) had a longer wheelbase and longer driveshaft. Larks also used 2 different u-joint types (spicer and mechanics) so the drivelines can be the same length but not be the same. The 63 Avanti with automatic (powershift) uses a driveline that measures 46 9/32” center to center of the u-joint holes. The Avanti driveline used spicer u-joints. So some 62,63 and 64 Larks with automatic’s use a 46 9/32 length driveline. If one of those has the spicer u-joints it would fit. I don’t know if the tube size and thickness is the same or different. A driveline from a 3 speed OD car or longer wheelbase with spicer u-joints could be shortened and have the yoke changed. Steve

  20. The transmission only needs to be moved rearward 3-4” to install the new flex plate. Any reputable transmission / repair shop should be able to do that.
  21. Jim Did your 72 Avanti still have the 400 Chevy engine. If it did the 400 is externally balanced using a different front dampener and flex plate than the 350 used. You will need to install the 350 dampener and flex plate. Steve.
  22. Jim What did you find was causing the overheating? Steve.
  23. Jim Checking water pump rotation, ignition timing and actual temp with heat gun as suggested above should be checked. Other possibility’s and thoughts. Thermostat installed upside down. Lower radiator hose collapsing. Does the lower hose a wire spring installed? Running the engine without a pressure cap, Leaking head gasket, cracked head or block. These will allow combustion gasses into the coolant. A fresh rebuild that has tight pistons will heat up quickly. Good luck hope you find the problem quickly. Steve

    Avanti Power!

The 300HP / 327 used in the 67 Avanti has hydraulic lifters. The R3/4 cams were solid lifter and noisy.

    Avanti Power!

I would expect the R4 with the 388 degree camshaft to be the one as far as sound goes. i would love to check that experience off the bucket list. Steve I have a 67 327 Avanti and it has a great sound but the high compression R4 with a much more radical camshaft would sound angry.
