Hey Gunslinger, now that I have got the door open, 1. I have checked below the top hinge on the A pilar. 2. under the lock post on the aft door opening on the lower B pillar, 3. Driver's side of the dash where the windshield meets the body. 4 under the fam motor on the passenger's side on the frame for the tag......... nothing in any place

A relatively high number.. and YES… 81% is the correct answer!
-
Good thinking… but no, not 28%!
-
Reasonable guess…. but no, not 44%!

In my previous query about radio upgrade, I asked about a part that sat on top of the old radio and was connected to an under dash harness (NOT to the radio amp output) I have not heard any explanation for the part. Its base is 4.25" square. There is a trim-able pot. as shown in the first picture and the connector to the under dash harness in the third. The only connection to the old radio itself was a ground wire connected to the rear support strap of the radio. Does anyone have any idea what the purpose is of this simple PCB. What might it control/support? (Aside: I have installed a "RetroSound" replacement and it fits like a glove in the old opening....I only have to memorise 18 pages of control options/settings)

1975 Avanti for sale, mentioned below
Dwight FitzSimons replied to silverstude's topic in Avanti's For Sale
I, for two, am looking forward to it, too. --Dwight -
It's my experience, with both the new R3 (B86) I owned back in the late 1960s and the one I own now (B69). With B86 in the late 1960s I could drive through a small town (no other traffic, buildings on either side reflecting sound) and, with quiet mufflers, hear piston slap. It's well known that R3 engines burn oil. My B69 has gapless rings to hopefully reduce some of that oil consumption. With the current disassembly (at an engine builder) of B69 I am hoping to keep the original pistons (ForgedTrue, IIRC), but we'll see. If I have to buy new pistons we may be able to go with somewhat tighter piston-to-wall clearances. Might be able to get that oil consumption up to 500 miles/quart! --Dwight

Fewer people had two cars back then. I'll say 2) 28%. --Dwight

You are in for some real fun!! Take photos as your putting it back together.
-
No issue with asking questions, many of the folks who come here know a LOT about the cars. But the manual will really help you as time goes on.
-
It’s good to have you ‘on board’!!!!
-
Check the body behind the drivers door…below the door lock. There should be a label.
-
Oooooh, that's a good question! I'll shoot at choice 3) 44%
-
Yes, it's true that 99% of the time I'll drive my R1 and R3 Avantis exactly the same. The only factor that might play in here is that R3s burn oil like you wouldn't believe (due to the much larger clearances): ~300 miles/quart. So, I might need a hotter plug just for that reason. Time will tell. --Dwight

What percentage of purchasers of new Studebaker Avantis had another car at home?…..(A 2nd car) 1) 12%…..2) 28%……3) 44%….. or 4) 81%
-
Which of the following years represent the LEAST amount of Studebaker Avanti new car sales? 1) 1962….2) 1963…..3) 1964 ….. or…..4) 1965

I don’t think that you are using this forum improperly… however, anyone who owns a pre-1987 Avanti and doesn’t obtain a shop manual for it is missing out on some really basic information. ( I’m referring to the 63-‘64 Studebaker Avanti shop manual, which covers many things pertaining to later year Avanti ll models.)
