I'll take a stab at #3 $325

Since you said a "rumor" I'm thinking it was a whopper of a rumor. My answer is 65!
-
I don't worry about misspelling a word every now and then since there are more important things to me. I don't try to correct others if I see a mistake either for the same reason. But the corrections are entertaining!
-
As mentioned in another thread, AVANTIS is the correct plural when speaking of more than one Avanti… Not AVANTI’S….. Perhaps your Spellcheck needs to be checked?🤭

Good ideas. I recently did a consignment with Gateway who sold the car and yes, I couldn't sell it during the contract period without them. My thoughts were to get the consignment dealer to list the cars with us in addition to the other methods that they use and get a fee for AOAI. Gateway uses several sites to list their cars already so I don't know if they would pay a small fee to add us, it's just a possibility. Providing links to other sales would be good for the users of this site, it just wouldn't bring in new members. Thoughts continue!

Avanti 4 Door for sale on eBay
aardvark replied to ronmanfredi's topic in Avanti Automobiles For Sale
This is one reason the For Sale area is nice to have.. Nice find but I'm not into 4 doors. -
Drip oil onto cable housing down the lenght of it, housing is coiled steel oil will seep in no problem. In the event that doesnt work there are rubber plugs up in the fender wells you can stick a screwdriver up into and release the latches, one on both sides. Guy

I'm investigating an '81 Avanti II in rough shape. But I can't pull out the hood release cable. Any suggestions? Thank in advance.

My $.02 is that it would be a convenient resource to have most or all For Sale Avantis listed in one place. That said, this website/forum has a limited number of members and those members probably already own an Avanti or two. Put simply, an ad placed here isn’t going to reach the broad market of classic car buyers, so a seller would likely list the car elsewhere if possible. With some, if not all consignment dealers, part of the agreement is that the car can’t be listed elsewhere and if you take the car back before the end of the contract you’ll have to pay the consignment fee. Perhaps a way around that conundrum would be to compile a list of cars for sale on this website and provide links to where they are listed. A sticky thread at the top of the Avanti’s For Sale section might do the trick. Normally I’d say grown men who have chosen to be involved in the classic car hobby shouldn’t whine about a $25-100 fee to list a car for sale. Given the tiny audience that an ad placed on this website would reach, it may be a valid complaint.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/397904511485 This 1990 Black 4-door has 19,000 original miles on it and was a weekend driver of a couple, who passed a few months ago. The seller is a used car dealer / repair shop near Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and they had it for sale for a few months on Facebook. It's now in eBay auction if anyone is interested.

The full flow blocks started production in April, 1962.

Good ‘stab’ … however it wasn’t 37!
-
When all else fails, what is an acceptable way to gain clearance between power steering ram and crankshaft pulley on both Studebaker & Chevrolet V8 powered Studebaker framed Avantis?
-
So that would NOT be a "full oil flow" block or am I mistaken? When did full flow start?,,,thanks
-
Thank you,,,
-
It's a 289 from a 1961 Hawk, Cruiser or Marshal.
-
Lets take a stab at #2. 37
-
‘P’ Studebaker V8’s were all (non-Avanti) 289’s… excepting for 1955 Stude President 259 V8 engines, whose serial numbers also began with a ‘P’.
-
Not sure if I should be posting this here or not, I'm trying to identify this engine number, I know it's not an Avanti engine block, I'm thinking it's a 259 block but not sure what the year is, I do have a chart with Studebaker V8 engine numbers but I can't seem to locate this particular number. I'm reading it as P75672 if anyone can ID it?,,,

A rumor which circulated around the Avanti community several years ago was that when Studebaker shut down auto production in South Bend, there were …..?….. fully assembled R3/4 engines at Paxton Products ready to be shipped east. 1) 18….. 2) 37 …..3) 50….or…..4) 65

In 1972, Stu-V Products of California offered a NOS R4 dual quad intake setup, complete, including aluminum manifold, carbs, linkage, gaskets, fuel lines, etc., for ……?……. 1) $175…..2) $250…..3) $325….or…..4) $435 (Air cleaner assy not included))
