I’ve clearly expressed how I feel about the poor job the current SDC forum administrator has done over the years.. and I question his “hard” work….I sure have never seen it on the SDC forum! That’s my final comment here…. Be well.

I am not disparaging either of the forum admins. I appreciate all the hard work they do to keep the sites running. Just pointing out that most, if not all, forums have issues from time to time. Ed, you seem to have a serious issue with Clark @ the SDC forum. Perhaps instead of attacking, you could volunteer to help. I am still confused on why the SDC forum continues to work for me and, apparently, no one else. Perhaps it is because I never log out?

Great idea. As a new Avanti owner and new forum member, I’ll probably have a number of questions that have already been asked and answered. I’ve got a good mechanic on the job, but it is his first Studebaker. Dan Booth, Dave Thibeault and Tommy Myers in CA have all been helpful on the phone, but I don’t want to take up their time with a bunch of questions.

Don’t mean to offend… but I have to call this as I’ve seen it over the years.

I wish there were a some sort of search engine for the AOAI forums, by topic, old posts get buried, relevant discussions from the past are hard to find. Ive been on this forum a couple of years and I know Ive read something about a particular subject but then am unable to find it, so I start scrolling back through the old posts, was that info in 63/64 or did I see it in Avanti II, or was it trivia,or a pub dicussion. I would like to see a search engine for the site where you could enter a topic and all posts relative, regardless of which forum would be available in one spot. Hows that for an idea? Guy

Just to remind everyone, the AOAI forum has had issues as well. One I experienced just last October. seems to be the nature of the beast.

Still down…. Sadly, this type of thing was inevitable on that forum.

63R-3080, a 1963 R2 with a GM automatic transmission just sold at auction for a hair under $45K. It had undergone a refurbishment in 2007-8 that included an engine rebuild.

Tried wife's iPhone 16. Can't get to forums. Main SDC page has forum unavailable message. Don't know if the message is new or left over from previous outage. Tried again from my S25, and it is still working!

I used the SDC forums contact page and sent email to webmaster. I don't understand why it is working for me and not others. I did notice that other than my 2 test posts, there is no activity since sometime around 6:00 p.m. EST yesterday.

Hi All- I've followed this thread with a good deal of interest because I will be putting RQB3269 back on a new Frame soon. The matter of shimming has been an interest to me. This thread prompted me to look at my reference photos and the 1 1/2" x 2" x 1/8" steel Shims at the rear of the Hogtroughs were stacked 5/8" and at the Firewall they are a stack of six BIG 1/4"plates giving 1 1/4" lift above the horseshoe shaped Stand. this means there was a 'rotation' upward at the front end. Interestingly these all fall within Group 2103-116 but exist as three different part numbers... 287685, ('oldie'- listed in 1959 parts book as an engine mount 1/4" spacer in group 0101-40), 284488 (I'll assume these are 1/8") and an additional different one at the top of the stack of longer length to provide better bearing on the Fibreglass floor which I will only assume might be 1336199. So all up, I don't see a 2" lift even at the front end. 🙃 Dont'cha just love this forensic stuff !

That’s true… expensive at the time and even now… but probably well worth it!

Not sure I’d call it a “beef”. The broad picture is that you’ve made a number of derogatory comments about anyone who does things differently than you. Everyone is an idiot or a fool with their money. “Typical Americans” spending their own money however they choose. Shameful, isn’t it. You’re obviously the smartest guy in the room. Well, maybe the second smartest. I’m no longer listening to the smartest guy in the room, so by default, you’re the smartest guy in my room at the moment. I’m still reading the room. So far it doesn’t really seem like you want to share ideas or listen and try to understand experiences other than your own. What you do is your business. Same goes for the rest of us. Let’s try talking cars and prices and see if we can look past the differences we may have with others.

Maybe I should try from a PC. I've been attempting to access from my cell phone. I cleared the cookies and history, but I still can't access it.
