Gary, not trying to be rude here, (you're a 'good guy'!:)), but this trivia question concerns Studebaker AVANTIS!

MFG - Your initial question referenced non-Avanti Studebakers.  R1Lark later delved into Larks and Hawks.  I am not the one that introduced them to this trivia question.

Thanks. pb.

Maybe Studebaker (Or the Feds!) knew the tubular rear crossmember would rust out!

I’ll check my 1966 Avanti II (RQ-A0090) and see if the number’s there.

Yes, as they were Studebaker frames I wonder if it was already stamped with a number for the relevant Studebaker Avanti which never got built or it got an A11 number, if anything at all.

I will have a look at my Chassis. It could be Avanti 11 but I suspect it is just the pressing/part number for that brace.

My serial number starts at the smaller of the 2 top crossmember holes ie the one with the welded nut. You have to look hard.  I have a D 11 also stamped but like yours its probably a pressing number.

The number went on the frame as the chassis was assembled and the body was selected out of batches of finished bodies depending upon the color and mated onto the chassis.
