mfg Posted July 10, 2018 Report Posted July 10, 2018 As many of us already know, the very first Avanti ll built, (RQA0001) utilized a used 327CI Corvette engine. However, the factory (as per production order under engine number) called that engine by another name....What was that name?.
Gunslinger Posted July 10, 2018 Report Posted July 10, 2018 "Stingray" engine. It was not referred to as a Corvette engine in advertising.

r1lark Posted July 11, 2018 Report Posted July 11, 2018 If I remember correctly, they bought the engine out of a junkyard for RQA0001. So it probably listed the engineer's name that 'had' the engine, or said Eng. Dept. or something similar. This would have kinda followed the method used by Studebaker for 'special' items called out on the Production Order..
