I believe that Blake bought Avanti much before that.  I will say it was relative to the decision to make convertibles (the timing seems about right).

Yes, you are right, I answered much too quickly without thinking it thru.

In '83 Blake was making a lot of changes, and it got his workforce mad/concerned so there was a vote as to whether to  join the union (UAW?). Ultimately union representation was voted down. Was this the vote you are referring to?
