Cbitz23 Posted April 2, 2018 Report Posted April 2, 2018 Hi I have a 1983 avanti and I would like to know if anyone has updated their dashboard and gauges and if so what gauges they used and if anyone has pictures I would like to see them.
Gunslinger Posted April 3, 2018 Report Posted April 3, 2018 For my '70 I used a set of Auto Meter gauges. They fit perfectly and are probably more accurate than the originals. The tach also didn't require an external sending unit. Auto Meter has many styles of gauges but doesn't offer a matching clock for every style. You also would need to buy the correct fuel gauge to match the impedance of the tank sending unit. I'll try and post a photo of my dash tomorrow.
Gunslinger Posted April 3, 2018 Report Posted April 3, 2018 Here's the Auto Meter gauges in my '70...
plwindish Posted April 6, 2018 Report Posted April 6, 2018 I had the gauges replaced in my 76 in 2012 and used Autometer identical to what Gunslinger has shown in his pics. They are very similar to the SW gauges and many don't notice they are not the originals, except for the orange needles. Speedo even had a trip odometer, but doesn't have a high beam indicator.
drat Posted May 11, 2018 Report Posted May 11, 2018 Nice gauges, Were those gauges sold in a kit? What size is the speedo and tach? I need to replace my sw gauges no idea the size.
