mfg Posted January 27, 2018 Report Posted January 27, 2018 Which of these well known Studebaker personalities was quoted saying...." The Molded Fiberglass (MFG) Company was the most clean, cooperative, and well managed factory I ever encountered" ? 1) Sherwood Egbert.....2) Nathan Altman.......3) Otis Romine....or......4) Carl Thompson
r1lark Posted January 27, 2018 Report Posted January 27, 2018 To me, for one of these people to have said this, they would have needed to have spent more time than just a visit or two. I believe Otis Romine spent quite a bit of time at MFG, so I'll say answer #3.

Gunslinger Posted January 28, 2018 Report Posted January 28, 2018 I'm guessing it might have been Nate Altman. Molded Fiberglass was stuck with something like 150 Avanti bodies when Studebaker cancelled the contract. They had every reason to be cooperative with the new Avanti Motors. Molded Fiberglass had a complete mess on their hands when producing the Avanti body...while they had been supplying Chevrolet with Corvette body panels the Avanti was their first effort at supplying complete, assembled and painted auto bodies. The problems they had bear no repeating but suffice it to say the line was not well run.
