mfg Posted January 6, 2018 Report Posted January 6, 2018 After taking over Avanti Motors, Steve Blake eliminated a production bottleneck in the paint department by..............................? 1) Hiring more body prep employees...............2) Adding dryer oven to paint booth...............3) Storing used Avantis in another location............or.........4) Introducing a urethane paint system
r1lark Posted January 7, 2018 Report Posted January 7, 2018 In the Steven Blake interview in Vol 1 #1 Collectible Automobile magazine, Blake talked about two things that would allow an increase in production. One was the production line, which was studied by a consultant and modified per the consultants' recommendations. The other was a bodywork/paint process that required a filler type material to be spread over the whole body and most of it sanded off, requiring 80 - 100 hours. This bodywork process was stopped at the time they changed to Ditzler's Deltron paint process. He also said they pushed on MFG for better body panels. The only one that fits your list is 4) introducing a urethane paint system. 1) wouldn't be the answer because changes reduced the body prep manpower. 2) adding dryer oven to the paint booth may have been part of going to the Deltron system, but Blake didn't mention it (at least in the CA article).

Sorry Paul, answer # 4 is incorrect!
r1lark Posted January 7, 2018 Report Posted January 7, 2018 Then it must be 2) adding dryer oven to paint booth.
