So, what was the electrical problem....and its result......... that the Di-noc dash & console applique SOMETIMES created on the '64 Avantis?

Poor grounding - gauges that were sometime inaccurate and/or lights that did not work.

Poor ground on the wiper switch would not allow the wipers to return to the park position.

Exactly CORRECT!......There are two 'nubs' under the wiper switch bezel that need to be pushed through the wood grain applique to obtain a dependable ground.....This was not always done!
