Carb secondaries?

Nope!...the carb secondaries will open any time the engine reaches normal operating temperature and the throttle is 'floored'!

Oil filter bypass.

Hey!...I like that answer!........, Frankly it's not the one we're looking for here, but I can't say that you're wrong!!

I should probably add some info to the original question.................

All Avanti R1 engines have this item, however, it's NEVER used........ (whether the engine is running or shut off!)

Well...........you did say "normal" driving. I equate opening the secondaries up with "spirited" driving! :)

Request for clarification: is this 'item' only on R1 engines installed in Avantis, or is it also on Lark and Hawk R1 engines?

I would say the boost part of the vacuum gauge

Good answer!....but this 'item' is part of the R1 Avanti engine itself.
