mfg Posted September 4, 2017 Report Posted September 4, 2017 In normal operation, what part of a Studebaker Avanti's R1 engine goes unused?

mfg Posted September 4, 2017 Author Report Posted September 4, 2017 I should probably add some info to the original question................. All Avanti R1 engines have this item, however, it's NEVER used........ (whether the engine is running or shut off!)

Well...........you did say "normal" driving. I equate opening the secondaries up with "spirited" driving! Request for clarification: is this 'item' only on R1 engines installed in Avantis, or is it also on Lark and Hawk R1 engines? Edited September 4, 2017 by r1lark added info............

Ron.Strasser Posted September 5, 2017 Report Posted September 5, 2017 I would say the boost part of the vacuum gauge

64studeavanti Posted September 5, 2017 Report Posted September 5, 2017 Are you thinking of the outer most groove on the crank and water pump pulleys?
