In order for a Studebaker Avanti restoration to be done as close to 'factory original' as possible.....?......exterior paint must always be used.

1)Basecoat Clearcoat Urethane......2) Single Stage Urethane........3) Acrylic Enamel W/Hardener Added.....or.......4) Acrylic Lacquer

Hmmm..........not sure I want to get into the 'lively' discussion this question might generate.

But I think the answer you are wanting is 4) Acrylic Lacquer since that is what was originally used.

#5......what the customer wants.  Part B there is limited suppliers of Acrylic Lacquer. Part C. it is illegal for many professionals to spray. Part D. possesion  of non HVLP spray equipment in certain zones is punishable by a $50,000 EPA fine.

Acrylic lacquer is the ONLY exterior paint which can be used for a 100% authentic restoration of a Studebaker Avanti,... and it is, of course, still readily available.

Using anything else will ALWAYS be the basis for 'another long story'!

Answer # 4 is CORRECT!
