They said it was the Avanti eventually given to Roger Ward for winning the 1962 Indy 500. (He didn't get the actual 'honorary' pace Avanti, if I remember correctly he wanted an air conditioned car, but I may be wrong on that.) The Lark convertible was the 'actual' pace car for that race.

Only one correction. I believe that his name was Rodger Ward.
