mfg Posted May 27, 2017 Report Posted May 27, 2017 Whose idea was it to locate the Studebaker Avanti's fuel tank from the normal 'rear of the car' location to up over the rear wheels?........1) Loewy's...........2) Egbert's.........3) Andrew's....... or......4) Hardig's
r1lark Posted May 27, 2017 Report Posted May 27, 2017 I'll say Hardig's - since I figure this was an engineering decision based on the amount of room (or lack of room) between the shock crossmember and the rear crossmember.
studegary Posted May 27, 2017 Report Posted May 27, 2017 I almost agree with R1lark'sresponse. The decision was due to room, not safety. The decision was made by engineering, not stylists or high level management. The IDEA was probably from someone in the engineering department, but therefore the DECISION (NOT "IDEA") would be credited to Hardig MFG's partial quote; "Whose idea was it ..."
mfg Posted May 27, 2017 Author Report Posted May 27, 2017 I would have thought it was Gene Hardig also.....but He's not the one that thought of this!.....Anyone else want to give this question a try?
