What part of a Studebaker Avanti steering wheel was/is usually the first to fail?

Yes those nylon bushings 'went south' rather quickly....but I was referring to the steering wheel itself, not the entire column.

Those steering wheels definitely shrunk and cracked around those rings.....but something else went south MUCH sooner!

HINT....this item(s) is in plain sight when sitting behind the wheel!

You bet!...Those little buggers deteriorated and fell apart very early in many Studebaker Avantis lives........CORRECT answer!

Are those little bezels available? Mine are deteriorating to the point where they fall out loose while driving.
