mfg Posted July 20, 2016 Report Posted July 20, 2016 What rather unique method did the Granatellis employ at Bonneville when the need arose to add lube to the standard transmission in one of the Lark speed record cars?
mfg Posted July 24, 2016 Author Report Posted July 24, 2016 HINT!!..............Andy Granatelli's book "They Call Me Mr. 500" contains the answer to this question.
Warren Webb Posted July 24, 2016 Report Posted July 24, 2016 I seem to remember Andy adding STP to prevent them from popping out of gear.
mfg Posted July 24, 2016 Author Report Posted July 24, 2016 I seem to remember Andy adding STP to prevent them from popping out of gear. You're correct,....but the question is HOW did they add it? (What's unusual?)
mfg Posted July 30, 2016 Author Report Posted July 30, 2016 ANSWER.......The mechanics actually lifted the car up from one side while some 'brave person' crawled under and added the STP to the tranny!
studegary Posted July 30, 2016 Report Posted July 30, 2016 This is the Avanti Forum. I do not see how something that only applies to a Lark belongs here. (Yes, I know that there were standard shift Avantis, but that is not what the question was about.)
