wapanzica
Any tips on removing my steering wheel. I have the puller but one of the screw holes i need to remove the wheel is missing (just a hole with no threads) and there is not enough room on the back side of the wheel hub to get the attachments that would pull from there. Don't want to damage the wheel because it is going in as a core exchange. Thanks Bill
silverstude
If the puller hole has been stripped, why not get a "bottom tap" and make new (larger) threads... then use a larger bolt? Grease on the tap can capture most cuttings, the rest when the wheel is off...
wapanzica
I was going to tap a larger hole but the entire puller thread left of the bolt is missing and the prongs that grab from the back are to big to get behind the wheel. I might try the glue a new thread into the hole and let it set before I try it again. Any thought on that working? Thanks.
silverstude
There used to be a Loktite product on the market that would renew stripped lug threads. I tried it and was amazed at the strength..

Threads should be at least as strong as original. As a last gasp, these work great, and you can rent one for free at your FLAPS.
