mtgibby
I pulled the engine and transmission out of the R2 this weekend. The previous owner had them temp installed when they stopped the restoration. Turns out the bell housing alignment pins are not installed. After I center the bell housing using the alignment procedure, what is the best way to replace/install the missing pins? Is there an off the shelf replacement? Thanks! 1963r2
Hello Mike I'm pretty sure you can get them from most if not all stude parts vendors. If not remove from any other Stude V8 pb
mfg
After you perform the alignment procedure to your satisfaction, simply drill two proper size new holes through the bellhousing and block flange and tap them into place.
lschuc
Be careful when drilling the alignment holes. Use a good and sharp drill bit and keep your drill level. The cast iron of the bellhousing is brittle and can easily crack.
Charlie Kile
If you can find one use a drill designed for drilling "Lexan". Charlie RQB3921
mtgibby
I purchased new SS 3/8 alignment pins. Should I enlarge the old holes or drill new holes?
lschuc
put the pins in the existing holes and check the alignment first. it may be ok. And if now, you will need to drill new holes.
