A 1967 Avanti ll rear brake drum can be interchanged with a (drum brake equipped) 1963 Studebaker V8 Lark front brake drum......True?

Well, I was going to weigh in on this, but decided against it when I saw that Gary said false. Gary has forgotten more about Avantis than I know, for sure!

But..........assuming the '67 Avanti was using a Dana 44 with flanged axles (like the R3 Avantis received?), and seeing that the disc brake rear drums and the drum brake front drums were the same diameter........I'll go out on a limb here and say true.

Good detective work!.....True is CORRECT!!

They are the same diameter, but for some reason I was thinking that the working area (lining width) was different.

Pretty sure that lining width is the same on both Gary.

Thanks for the correction and information.

Please do not assume that I have all of the correct answers. I know that there is much that I do not know about Avantis. In general, I just answer here and on the SDC Forum with what is in my head and is retrievable at the moment. .
