studegary Posted October 3, 2015 Report Posted October 3, 2015 Dealers located in an area having access to the "Mr. Ed" television program had to pay extra for this advertising. What was the per car charge for this?
BRitz Posted October 3, 2015 Report Posted October 3, 2015 That would be $25.00 per car sold in 1960 with a match by Studebaker making it $50.00 per car total paid to Filmways for the cost of producing the show.
studegary Posted October 3, 2015 Author Report Posted October 3, 2015 Since this forum is Avanti, I was referring to the Studebaker Avanti era (specifically 1963 model year). Note that I am not asking about the regular advertising fee, but rather the added charge for "Mr. Ed" TV coverage. Hint: it is not $25.
regnalbob Posted October 3, 2015 Report Posted October 3, 2015 Dealers located in an area having access to the "Mr. Ed" television program had to pay extra for this advertising. What was the per car charge for this? $20.00.

BRitz Posted October 4, 2015 Report Posted October 4, 2015 (edited) So they renegotiated the original deal then? Edited October 4, 2015 by BRitz
studegary Posted October 5, 2015 Author Report Posted October 5, 2015 Regnalbob got the correct answer at $20. Studebaker Sales Letter No. 101, 10/1/62 covers this charge. This shows that not all dealers had the same cost for their Avantis.
