Rick Allen Posted June 19 Report Posted June 19 Came across someone on Facebook marketplace looking for an original set of 63/64 Avanti wire hubcaps, did such a thing exist?,,,
mox Posted June 20 Report Posted June 20 Hi, I just sold 6 of those covers to a gentleman in Massachusetts. A/C 3521, they were offered as an option on all Studebakers 64 to 66. Same cover used by other makes like early T Birds with a different centre.

Weren’t those wire covers held on by some type of clips?…. And if I remember correctly, didn’t the outer edge of those covers extend over the wheel rim slightly onto the tires themselves? Definitely different!!

Thank you for that information I don't ever remember seeing those hubcaps on anyone's Avanti but now I know they're not specific to Avanti just a Studebaker option for their cars,,,
mox Posted June 20 Report Posted June 20 Hi, the covers are held on by 5 spring clips per wheel and they cover the entire 15 in steel wheel but don’t touch the tires. You need shorter valve stems and need to pop out the cover to check tire pressure. If you have the Authenticity manual there is a picture of them showing them as an Avanti option.

Thanks! ……I’ll check the manual.
