ronmanfredi
I have a 82 Avanti with this radio and amp. I believe the amp is 15 watts. The vehicle did not come with an owners manual and I'd really like to know what the control knobs do on the front of the radio. I can't determine if there is a left/right or front/rear fader on this unit. The right outer ring seems to control treble/base, the left changes the sound of the speakers but it doesn't appear to adjust L/R or F/R balance (fader). Can someone provide me with an explanation of the controls?
Footer
Did you try Google for an owner’s manual?
ronmanfredi
Yes, there is nothing out there for this model of radio. These were common in German cars and considered a top line digital radio (with 2 amp options) but only made for a few years. I've read several Porsche and BMW car forums and found some of the info. JavierB
I believe this model is called SACRAMENTO. check out this: https://avanti4245.files.wordpress.com/2021/02/sacramento-manual.pdf
ronmanfredi
Unfortunately the Sacramento is a different model. Thanks for the reply!
JavierB
From the looks of the faceplate icons, the knob controls seem to be fairly similar. Yours may just have a couple of different features but a lot of it will be the same. They are both from the same 1980 era so likely to share a lot of design elements. (If it's NOT the sacramento, then which is it? does it not have a model or label on it? ) https://avanti4245.files.wordpress.com/2021/02/sacramento-manual.pdf
JavierB
Okay, so I've figured out that what you have is a CR3001. There are several places where folks discuss this radio. In this Pelican forum there is a guy who offers to send a pdf of his manual if you DM him: https://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/810470-help-80s-stereo.html https://worldradiohistory.com/hd2/IDX-Audio/Archive-Stereo-Review-IDX/IDX/80s/HiFi-Stereo-Review-1983-03-OCR-Page-0028.pdf

mfg
My '83 Avanti came with a factory Sacramento version..I had problems with it, and replaced it with a Custom Auto Sound unit, that fits the dash nicely, and has very good reception.
ronmanfredi
I have secured a PDF of the original owners manual for the CR3001. If anyone need a copy then let me know.
