mfg Posted January 11, 2023 Report Posted January 11, 2023 Am I correct in thinking that the factory R4 '64 Daytona Hardtop is a twin (exterior wise) to the last '64 Stude Daytona built? ( the museum car)
r1lark Posted January 11, 2023 Report Posted January 11, 2023 No, you are not correct. The R4 car did not have the optional front and rear bumper guards, which the museum Daytona does have. In addition, the R4 car had a 'full package' grille badge (although it was installed in a curious higher position than all other '64 Lark grille badges that I have seen), while the museum Daytona does not have a 'full package' grille badge (at least, it did not have in 1988 when I took a number of pictures of the car when visiting the museum).
Nelson Posted January 11, 2023 Report Posted January 11, 2023 the museum car had a bench split seat. The R4 had buckets. However, pretty close.

Right,...but same exterior color?.... and I'm thinking black vinyl interior instead of red?
Nelson Posted January 11, 2023 Report Posted January 11, 2023 No, the R4 was red interior and so was museum car. I think the R 4 was all vinyl and museum car had cloth.

mfg Posted January 11, 2023 Author Report Posted January 11, 2023 Thanks!... now I know more about the R4 car AND the museum car!
mfg Posted January 11, 2023 Author Report Posted January 11, 2023 Hard to beieve that factory R4 powered '64 Daytona is out there somewhere, and there hasn't been a (recent) major article written about the car!
