Alan Blalock Posted July 12, 2022 Report Posted July 12, 2022 Does anyone have knowledge or experience in removing a stock radio from an Avanti. My car is a 64 R1, and I need to remove it and have it repaired. Experience is always important, and I have heard some stories about being able to take out the unit through the speaker on the top of the dash, but I obviously don"t want to damage anything or get stuck in a situation I cannot get out of.Thanks for any TRUE LIFE EXPERIENCES.
Gunslinger Posted July 12, 2022 Report Posted July 12, 2022 You won’t get it out through the speaker opening…too small an opening. Does your car have a/c? If not it should come out from underneath. If you have a/c then you have to remove the dash. Get the shop manual if you don’t already have one. The procedure is pretty straightforward and not that tough.
Desert Driver Posted July 14, 2022 Report Posted July 14, 2022 I got mine out thru the dash speaker grille. Not too difficult, you just have to remove all the knobs, washers, and nuts on the front of the radio. I would strongly suggest you kill the battery to avoid getting shocked by a hot wire.
