Steering Box aligment

Hi, please help. I can't find direct alignment with the steering arm/rod. Should there be spacers or ...? I have 4 washers which was used.  I think the wrong alignment was the reason why the plastic steering column lower brush was broken (partially).

Hi again. I spend hour in my garage and found this way to be best and now works fine. Please check photos. Three outside and one as a shim.

I think my box is the same, one shim on that bolt. I think the best way is to loosen the steering column at both ends first so it can move freely. Then you mount the box on the frame. Fit the lap joint between the box and the column and tighten the bolts of the column. In this way, the alignment between box and column must be correct.

The rag joint absorbs an angle difference between box and column. What you have to watch out for is an offset between the axes of the box and the column. This will indeed cause your bearing to break and the rag joint to fail early.
