The serial number of an original "R" type Studebaker Avanti starting motor will have the letter prefix "MDU".........True?

False, according to service letter j-1963-15, the starter assemblies are identified by model # MDY and a daub of white paint next to i.d. plate.

That applies after May 1963.  The question was about original starters. Without looking it up, I will say true (MDU)

False is correct...in many cases, however, there is a caveat!:o

And true is also correct:o    (Sorry folks, I really should have the word "all" instead of "an" in this question...my intention was for the answer to be FALSE:rolleyes:)
