In 1963, Studebaker Corp. delivered a new 1963 Avanti (63R-4803) to a Mrs. Ferrucci of Herkimer, New York for a cost of NOTHING (Gratis)....Why did Studebaker do this?

Because she won it.

Although it's possible 63R-4803 was a prize in some giveaway contest, that is doubtful, and there is another more likely reason...Any other thoughts on this question?

Possibly may have been some type of severance pay for a former Studebaker employee; it's rumored that Studebaker occasionally did this.

By the way Ed, we have missed you!

CORRECT!, it's likely Mrs. Ferrucci received her FREE 1963 Avanti for that reason.....

(HOW UNFAIR:(!!!...A brand new Avanti in lieu of a few severance dollars!!!!!!:D:D)

PS...Thanks Paul, the Golden Hawk which came home to roost is taking up most of my free time.....It's a BIG project to get into even reliable, safe driver condition.....LOVING IT THOUGH!!:)
