mfg Posted September 3, 2021 Report Posted September 3, 2021 In 1963, Studebaker Corp. delivered a new 1963 Avanti (63R-4803) to a Mrs. Ferrucci of Herkimer, New York for a cost of NOTHING (Gratis)....Why did Studebaker do this?

Although it's possible 63R-4803 was a prize in some giveaway contest, that is doubtful, and there is another more likely reason...Any other thoughts on this question? r1lark Posted September 5, 2021 Report Posted September 5, 2021 (edited) Possibly may have been some type of severance pay for a former Studebaker employee; it's rumored that Studebaker occasionally did this. By the way Ed, we have missed you! Edited September 5, 2021 by r1lark

By the way Ed, we have missed you! CORRECT!, it's likely Mrs. Ferrucci received her FREE 1963 Avanti for that reason..... (HOW UNFAIR!!!...A brand new Avanti in lieu of a few severance dollars!!!!!!) PS...Thanks Paul, the Golden Hawk which came home to roost is taking up most of my free time.....It's a BIG project to get into even reliable, safe driver condition.....LOVING IT THOUGH!!
