mfg
A Studebaker Avanti engine can be removed (or installed) with its automatic trans attached.......as long as the bolt in engine rear support crossmember is first removed.....True? Avanti83
Considering I can drop an SBC/T56 or SBC/700R4 into a later model, I'll say - True. Of course, the radiator and other incumberances would be removed but there were no conditions in the question.
brad
Yes, it's not that hard, but the car must be jacked up so the tail can be tipped way down. Also a good engine leveler has to be employed as the angle needs to be straightened out as you lower it. You do risk the firewall as it takes lots of guidence by more than one person to do it. mfg
Great answers,...but we do have a bit of a conflct here....In my opinion, (for whatever that's worth), the answer here is FALSE!...Why?...because it can be done WITHOUT removing said crossmember.....which the question stated HAD TO GO!! PS....Looks to me like someone's having a great time in that photo!
