mfg
Bendix Dunlop disc brakes, as used on the 1963 Studebaker Avanti, were designed to stop vehicles with a maximum gross weight of four thousand pounds.....True?
Gunslinger
No...they were designed for a car of about two thousand pounds or slightly more. While they worked fine on the Avanti, they were at or near the upper limits of their design. Avantis were probably the biggest vehicle that exact brake design was used on. Besides some Jaguars, the design was also used on some Japanese sports cars.
mfg
Correct!.....Answer....FALSE....But these brakes were actually rated for up to a 3,500 lb. vehicle. Still borderline on some Avanti ll's.
lschuc
The Dunlop/Bendix brakes were also used on some Ferrari and Aston Martin cars from the early 1960s.
