mfg Posted May 9, 2020 Report Posted May 9, 2020 After the application of the final exterior paint coating, Studebaker Avantis were sent through a baking oven......?....... 1) Side by side using two lanes.......or.......2) In line, one behind the other
Avanti83 Posted May 9, 2020 Report Posted May 9, 2020 I would believe side by side would result in temp variations and capital expense increases so I say in-line.

Avanti83 Posted May 9, 2020 Report Posted May 9, 2020 I believe you but do have any pictures of the setup? Seems inefficient at first blush.

Yes!....If you go onto Bob Johnstones Stude info website and look for the 1/63 letter written by E.J. Hardig and M.P. de Blumenthal to the Society Of Automotive Engineers, you'll find some interesting black and white Avanti assy. photos..... including one showing two Avantis side by side exiting the paint baking oven at Studebaker.
studegary Posted May 10, 2020 Report Posted May 10, 2020 Avanti IIs were switched over to one at a time.
