Chief Blaze Posted April 8, 2020 Report Posted April 8, 2020 I am a member of Studebaker Driver's Club - Chief Blaze. (1955 President Coupe). I just joined this AOAI Forum i just purchased a 1984 Avanti Coupe, and I want to register the car with AOAI. On the registration form, I must select that it is either a 1984 Touring Coupe or a Blake edition. (I don't think Blake is right but am not sure). The VIN number for my vehicle does not match with the choices listed. My Vin # is 12AAV1232E1003948 My Title Paper shows 1984 Avanti. Vin# plate on the vehicle matches the title papers. Car Fax report from VIN # shows clean history. Also confirms it is a1984 model. Bought car from CARSMART in Missouri Any information would be appreciated. Thank You Blaze 1769695774.jfif 1769695775.jfif 1769695761.jfif
studegary Posted April 9, 2020 Report Posted April 9, 2020 To me, your VIN indicates a 1984 model Avanti (Blake), but NOT one of the 50 Touring Coupes for 1984.
silverstude Posted April 11, 2020 Report Posted April 11, 2020 Yes, RQB-3948 is very nice inside and out, but not a Touring Coupe.. Here are a few older sale events \ https://studebaker-info.org/avantiRQBx3.html#rqb3948
Chief Blaze Posted April 11, 2020 Author Report Posted April 11, 2020 (edited) Thanks for the info Silverstude. I saw only one other listing on the 1984 Avanti registry with an E in the VIN (and not RQB), Feb 3, 2009 1984 E100 3892 Jerry M. Dillon. All the rest started with RQB. That clears up a lot for me. So, do I substitute RQB when looking up my VIN and registering the car with AOIA? With the PO"s permission per the dealer, I would like to make contact with him. Is there a listing in the Studebaker Driver's Club, or the Avanti Onwers Association for members by name? I am told that he is a member of SDC. If so, I will send him a Private E mail. Not sure if I should post his name here in the clear so I did not do so. Thanks again! Chief Blaze Edited April 11, 2020 by Chief Blaze typo and added info

studegary Posted April 12, 2020 Report Posted April 12, 2020 Your Avanti (3948) is an RBQ number for 1984. The listing for an E is probably some sort of error. RQB3892 is a 1984 Touring Coupe. Both the AOAI and SDC Rosters list member's names.
Chief Blaze Posted April 15, 2020 Author Report Posted April 15, 2020 Thank you for the welcome. And my apology again for that double posting and cluttering of this very nice forum. Car arrived in good condition last Monday from Missouri. A bit of work on little stuff is underway but nothing major. Thank you all! Blaze
