coolairguy Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 Hello everyone, I'm new here. I am in the process of purchasing a 1987 Avanti that needs a heater core and maybe an evaporator. I've read some messages in these forums that are scaring me off. Has anyone sucessfully changed done this or does anyone know a tech in the NY metro area that is capable of it. Thank you in advance
IndyJimW Posted January 29, 2011 Report Posted January 29, 2011 I have a 87 Avanti and it looks like a big PITA, if I had to replace mine I would go with a better aftermarket kit like Vintage Air or Hod Rod Air. Good luck, Jim Wood Hello everyone, I'm new here. I am in the process of purchasing a 1987 Avanti that needs a heater core and maybe an evaporator. Thank you in advance It's been 2 months now since I started (no 'experts' in Milwaukee would touch the job). It is a nightmare! The instructions I have to remove the evaporator say that after I remove 6 screws I should be able to wiggle the unit back & forth until the manual (hot/cold) vent door rod pulls out - not happening. If I could just get the evaporator out of the way I might be able to reach the heater core w/o further disassembly. 1988 coupe.

Thank you in advance I had the complete system repaired in NJ. While the end result was great, the final price tag was an issue that almost got legal. I would suggest calling Dan Booth with Nostalgic Motors. He is detailed and informative. Mark
