It can't really be cleared of all air unless the system is converted to a closed system from the open system that Studebaker installed.

You are probably ?looking for bleeding the peacock under the surge tank. But he is technically correct.

'Burping' the system by opening that petcock is CORRECT!:)

PS....I understood what Gary meant, however, he "added language" to this question by mentioning converting the system over to closed.

Studebaker, of course, never built an Avanti with a closed cooling system.....That's why Gary's answer was wrong.:(

I believe that you need to reread my answer more carefully.  I never said that Studebaker built an Avanti with a closed system, that is why I used "converted to a closed system" and "the open system that Studebaker installed."
