    MCACN Show!

Were the drop spindles a new part or a modified existing spindle?
  2. Top pump is the modified Mopar pump. Bottom pump is an R2 pump. What does your pump arm look like.

    Opinion....

Underside look at a 67 Avanti II. Prop rod on the right but it appears to have a mounting plate on the left so it could fit ether type.

The parts manual shows a hood change after serial number 4892.
  6. The AOAI annual Convention is September 17-20 in Detroit.
  7. The terminal posts are on the other side (right). They are reversed from the BCI 51.
  8. The NAPA parts network shows 99+ 3EE battery’s available across the US. Most are at distribution centers so a local store may have to order it in.
  9. Avanti 800278. May be the same as the Cardone number. I believe it’s a ford MC
  10. 1529 is the casting number for that part. It is the same R1 an R2. The Carter part number is stamped into the edge off the mounting flange. 3509S for an R1 3508S for an R2 There may or may not be an M before the number. The difference between the two is the R2 housing (1529) is drilled and tapped for a fitting for the blower pressure reference line. Pictures below are an R2 pump 3508
  11. Miss print or not .00025 ( 25 hundred thousands ) or 1/4th of 1 thousandth is not enough clearance. Oil is needed for lubrication and cooling of the bearing. While tight clearances will help keep oil pressure up, too tight and the bearing will burn up. Plastigage is not super accurate but when used correctly is a good way to check or double check clearance. .001 to .002 is a good rod bearing clearance for a street driven Studebaker V8. I was looking in a 59-64 Studebaker shop manual for rod bearing clearance for 63 and 64 Jet Thrust and Super Jet Thrust engines, the Lark and Hawk version or the R1 and R2. It shows .0005 to .002.
  12. Rick Must be a misprint. This is from a Avanti shop manual.
  13. I don’t have a NOS rotor to measure but I just miked a new reproduction rotor and it was .371
  14. Mike I have been to Harrington the last 3 years. It is a fun show, this year had a good turn out of Avanti's. I think I have talked to you briefly there. I had the red Studebaker 4 Wheel Drive. Lots of work to do to be able to dive the car by May. I do have a 67 Avanti that’s a driver so might bring that. Steve
  15. I am the new owner of 63R 1358. Brought the car home on Saturday. A lot of work to do. I will post updates here. Steve
  16. New forum member but long time Studebaker and Avanti owner. I put new pads on my 67 Avanti II a few months ago. I used the ceramic pads from Moss. I only have 50 miles or so on them but they are working good.
