Mark L... This picture is before cleaning. Here you see dark fragile (frosty) area which has been there very long time.
-
mgf... Not at all 🙂 As you can see. There is a fragile area in the metal with a wavy pattern. A manufacturing defect in the hardening, which however lasted for decades until it gave way with normal movement. It's a wonder it took this long.

Hi, This might also be of interest to this forum. I wrote about this on Facebook. When I left the traffic lights (standard way) the rear axle pinion broke as you can see in the pictures. I think the best estimate is that it is a manufacturing defect (hydrogen embrittlement during manufacturing) that has lasted for decades. I don't think the warranty is valid anymore 🙂

I came to the conclusion that the lid/cover should not breathe. This way the liquid does not absorb moisture. Under and overpressure remain between the seal and the lid. A very small amount of air may leak between the cover and the screw.
-
Please explain. How master cylinder and ventilation works in its cover? Edit: I understand that when the fluid level changes during use, there must be breathing in the fluid space of the master cylinder. As I understand it, that's why there are also holes (vents) in the gasket. How about the cover?

Hi, I have used now 4 years this. Still strong and very similar to original one. You can use Willard sticker instead of CAT. Studebaker Int. sells the sticker. https://parts.cat.com/en/catcorp/11R-2250

About the oil color https://riautomotive.net/dark-brown-transmission-fluid-needs-to-be-changed-right-away/ Since you can't see the color on the dipstick, you either check by sucking a sample, by wiping the stick on a white cloth or change it regularly. In my experience, that 5000 miles could be a good limit - I think. The oil is used so little that this is not a cost issue. If you change the oil on time, I think you don't need to flush the entire oil chamber.
-
Thanks for reminding to change the oil. 👍 I have a rebuilt Paxton and the seller said TYPE-F ONLY - nothing else. This has about 5000 miles and three years. The oil is not completely black and there are no visible particles in it. The color has darkened from red.

Hi tsterkel, This is old topic but interesting. I dont find article from #137 Winter / Spring 2007. Where to find the article?

Or the car was not import to Milan by the buyer's order. The distributor (Compagnia Generale Auto) has ordered two cars and the sale of the grey one has taken time.

When the water circulation and the radiator are in order, think about how the air intake for the cooler works at the moment. Due to the vortex, only part of the cooling air reaches the radiator. If you put a non-rotating electric fan in front of this, the surface area will decrease even more. What about the possible license plate in front? Before you install other solutions, this thing is important and you also need to understand how the air flows and what is underpressure and overpressure. The solution can be done reasonably easily. I drew the plan to Stude Avanti as an attachment. Thanks to aerodynamic engineer Eric Ahlstrom and George Smith.
