  1. I noticed that in my 1983 that one of the console toggle switches lights up half of the lights for the heater and vent control knobs and the other toggle switch lights up the other half and the fog lights - doesn't seem to make any sense , any advice?

    Thanks

  2. About 3 times now I went to apply the brakes and the pedal would push down with no braking and then go into a skid. I noticed the brake fluid a little low on one side and a tiny drop of fluid outside the cylinder. Would appreciate any ideas or suggestions as to what may be causing this.

    Thank you.

  3. Are you still using the computer or is the engine back to a conventional carb and dissy? I'm curious as I replaced my SBC in the 83 and stripped out the computer harness. It now runs a Holley EFI setup. Other than a couple of power wires, the computer harness is a separate add on. Not suggesting you pull yours but just FYI. Bob

My engine is fuel injected and not sure if the computer is working or not. Sorry not that sophisticated. The people who did the work moving it didn't seem to think it was worth much and really neither do I. They said have the hook up for the check light was not needed as these cars do not go thru emission testing and it could actually run better without it so I let them do it. I don't have the light in the dash anymore. I had black anodized aluminum inserts put in and did not have them drill the hole for it. Sorry can't be more help.

  4. My 83 came with a new 350 engine and the computer hanging by straps under the dash. Silly. A company I used mounted it on a wooden board under the carpet on the passenger where your feet angle up when sitting. The carpet and the computer fold down when you need it and you don't even know it's there. They also disconnected the check engine light a n d the car runs great.

  5. Hi Brad, the fiber glass backing broke so half is still attached with the broken bolt. I saved a piece so I know how wide and thick to make the replacement template. Are you saying to make the template out of circuit board? Is the thickness critical to aligning flush with the car body?

Also is it critical to remove every shred of old epoxy if using the 3m panel bond?

Also, does the 3m allow you to set the new piece in , align the door and then remove the door before clamping without the piece shifting out of alignment?

    Thanks ,

    Kevin

  6. Is there a best way to line up the plate to make the bolts and door align correctly when reinstalling?

Is there a real danger of fire if I leave the fuel system in or is it removed to not cause damage from the heat gun?

    Thanks

    Kevin

  7. Brad booth bolts loosened and one broke off I am afraid to frighten the other one the gas door is a little loose and the fiber glass seems a little loose how do you go about heating the fiberglass to remove the assembly without damaging the car

For now the door seems driveable but don't want it to fall off when I am on a road trip

Do you get up to ct?

  8. I need to cover and install the vents under the dash on either side of the console. Any special tricks of the trade for cover and installation before I get going? I am trying to match the rug but can't find anything that has the same name on the build sheet. I have matching carpet in the trunk so will see if I can use that. If not I have the black anodized aluminum dash and console so I was thinking of doing them in black. The existing rug in the interior and trunk is beige. Any hints or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks

  9. My gas door also is chipped because it contacts the body when opened - is there an adjustment that can be made? The way the filler is angled the door has to be almost fully opened to accommodate the gas nozzle.

    Appreciate any help.

    Thanks

  10. Thanks I called Dan Booth at Nostalgic he said don't mess with the bolts because the repair has to be done drilling from the outside and then repairing and repainting _ I was thinking of trying to get the hinge pin out but don't know if it's worth it anyway my problem is a chip in the upper left hand corner of the door that happens when the door is open to gas up _ any suggestions on how to prevent this by an adjustment of some sort or do I just be careful with the door

    Appreciate it

For your broken door is there an epoxy will help?

  11. Does anyone know how to properly remove the gas cap door on an 83 Avanti. I can feel two nuts and bolts but don't know if the bolts will fall through if I take the nuts off. The only other thing I can see to do is try to bang the hinge pin out but I am afraid of scratching the car of bending the assembly.

    Thanks and appreciate your help.

  12. Does anyone know how to take off the fuel door (gas cap door)?

I can feel two bolts on the inside but don't know if the bolts will fall through if I remove the nuts. The only other thing I can see to do is remove the hinge pin but there does not look like enough room without possibly scratching the car.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you.
