HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
-
There was 809 made. How many of them are still on the road today? I don't have the answer.
-
Thanks Gunslinger, the older mirrors were not that way, right?
-
Is there a difference in the right and left Strato-Vue mirror. The catalog has a different part number for the right mirror.
-
Cowboy, give Jon Myers a call. He rebuilt the control valve on my 83. He will give you a sermon on what to do.
When you get it up and running be prepared for a little air in the lines. So, for a while there will a little glitch in the steering.
-
Thanks guys, I'm not concerned with 42,000 actual miles on it. It has the 200 R4 tranny and yes it runs at 70 mph, 2300 rpm.
It's just that my 64 R1 289 runs 80 cold and 60 warmed up.

1983. Is 30psi normal at highway speeds for a 305cu in.
-
No, my problem is in the summer. Two are in the garage and one has to sit out.
Thanks for your input.

I own it along with two other Stude's. The problem is, I have moved (townhouse) and I have a two car garage and five cars. I keep two Stude's in the garage and the brand X's on the driveway. No room for the Stude #3

Go to this website and click on "Studebaker" for info

Fred. Are these LED bulbs a separate bulb and where did you purchase them?
-
Thanks Fred. I was under there and replaced one bulb in the speedometer, didn't help. Mine also has 2 bulbs, I guess I replaced the wrong one.
Fred, do you have small hands?
-
Thanks Gunslinger, just what I thought. Nothing comes easy. I guess I will do my driving during the day unless I find a five year old to put them in!!
-
How hard is it to replace the bulb on the speedometer only? The rest of lights are ok
-
You summed it up in your last sentence. A car of that magnitude should have them!
-
Does anyone know if John Seaton will be at St. Louis meet this year?
-
I have a question and I don't have the answer.
Why didn't Avanti have the Sunvisor that would swivel from right to left for the driver and left to right for the passenger?
I know that there wasn't much to the 63 & 64 Sunvisor to make it work.

Is John Cafaro still living? If not when did he die?

Richard Straman was retained to change the coupe into a convertible. They used a 1982 coupe RQB3370 for the conversion.

Welcome Greg from Minnesota....I have a 1955 Studebaker Regal Commander, owned by my grandparents. A 1964 Avanti R1 and a 1983 Avanti.
You will get a lot of free advice from this site. Did just purchase this car? Tell us more about it.

Yes...I would put a reserve on it...whatever figure is your absolute bottom dollar you'll accept for the car. I'd start the auction with a reserve and a low starting bid. I believe too many people set the starting bid too high and it can keep people from bidding.
Once an auction starts, you can always lower the reserve if you feel it necessary.
Thanks Gunslinger, I was thinking of putting it in "Classic Cars ". That's where I sold my 63 from. I sure would like to meet you. Why don't you come to the Zone Meet in MN. LOL
-
I agree...try eBay. You may find a buyer quicker that way...maybe someone who wants to drive it to St. Louis themselves! At St. Louis there will likely be several Avantis for sale, which may make for downward pressure on the asking price if you want to move it.
Good point Gunslinger. So, do you agree that $17,000 is a fair price. I should have a reserve on e-bay.
Right power window motor on a 64 avanti
in 1963-64 Avanti

My right side (passenger side) power window can be inconsistent. It goes down with no problems, but coming back up it needs help.
How much would a replacement motor cost or any suggestions?
Thanks
