The trunk lid pull on my 1963 Avanti pulls rather hard. Some time ago I read an article in Avanti Magazine about servicing or replacing the pull unit but I can't find it in the Avanti Magazine Index. Anyone know how I can locate that article.

not sure of the article, but I do remember Jon Myers writing about soaking the entire cable in ATF to remove rust and loosen the wire within the cable

I did this on my 64 R2 during a frame off restoration years ago, still pulls easily

I forget which vendor sells them, but you should consider a repop made in stainless steel and replace the original that's about fifty-five years old.  There's no telling how badly corroded it is so it's more a matter of when it will break...not if.  Be preventive and replace it at your convenience.
