mgtdsteve
My 1978's oil pressure gauge is acting odd. When you turn the key off the needle stops a 40 psi when running it shows about 80. Do you think the problem is the sender, the gauge or a wiring issue? the engine is a 350 so if it is a sender which one. If it is a gauge can they be found. Thanks, Steve
Jim78
The gauge on my '78 stays at whatever the reading is when I shut the key off. When I re-start, the gauge indicates the actual pressure. I don't think that I've ever seen a pressure as high as 80, though.
Avanti83
Whenever I run into oil pressure issues, I check the actual pressure with a mechanical gauge. About any will work that can be adapted to 1/8" pipe for testing. Senders and gauges should be available from Myers or Nostalgic. Probably better, I'll bet someone here knows or has them available once you know what you need.
dynolou2
The sender type should match gauge, in other words if the gauge only reads to 60 psi the sender should be the same 60 psi type. Dan Booth has the correct senders. Lou Cote
