TED DIMON Posted August 13, 2018 Report Posted August 13, 2018 Nate Altman's home in South Bend was at the intersection of Cedar Street and Coquillard Drive. True or False?
mfg Posted August 19, 2018 Report Posted August 19, 2018 I've tried getting in touch with Lee Newman, (Newman-Altman), whom sold me my '83 Avanti, but have had no luck......so I have no idea if your trivia question is T or F!!
r1lark Posted August 19, 2018 Report Posted August 19, 2018 I'll say False, since Cedar Street intersects North Coquillard Drive, not Coquillard Drive (at least according to a current Google Map). That address at the intersection of Cedar Street and North Coquillard Drive looks like 1917 Cedar Street.
TED DIMON Posted August 20, 2018 Author Report Posted August 20, 2018 The answer is True! A friend of mine here in Arizona recently saw me with my Avanti II and without hesitation correctly identified the car. I was impressed that a woman considerably younger than I am would be this knowledgeable. It seems that Janet was raised in South Bend back in the sixties and seventies and lived two doors away from the Altman family. She identified the intersection for me but apparently forgot the North designation on Coquillard Drive. It's possible that the folks that live in that neighborhood don't use the North designation. Janet was back in South Bend this summer to visit her mother who still lives in the house that was two down Cedar Road from the Altman's. She showed me some pictures that she took of the Altman house from the curb. The overhead view shown above appears to be the same house.
mfg Posted August 21, 2018 Report Posted August 21, 2018 Good trivia question Ted!.....Keep 'em coming!
TED DIMON Posted August 24, 2018 Author Report Posted August 24, 2018 Here are some current pictures of the Altman house. I wish I knew how to photo shop. I would put an Avanti in the driveway!
