mfg Posted June 23, 2018 Report Posted June 23, 2018 In a 1972 issue of Avantitopics Magazine, a private seller claimed that he had......?..... brand new, crated Studebaker Avanti R2 engines for sale!! 1) Eight.......2) Thirty Three......3) Fifty Six....or....4) Eighty
r1lark Posted June 23, 2018 Report Posted June 23, 2018 Memory says answer 3: fifty six. I'm assuming these were the so-called marine engines?

Sorry, fifty-six is incorrect.....and they were all normal Avanti R2 automotive engines...some later converted for marine use I believe. Any other thoughts here?
murph the surf Posted June 24, 2018 Report Posted June 24, 2018 80 (4) is ringing a bell.....rumor was it was an executive in a fairly high position with Studebaker who squirreled those out after the cessation of Avanti/R2-powered Studebaker production.
