Norman Hansen
I have had a strange buzzing noise that comes on off idle and goes away at 1800 rpm in any gear. Put the car on the lift and found the heat shield welds in two places failed on the t/c. Has anyone tried to remove this without removing the trans? I don't have a picture of the t/c, only the profile in the mtc manual. any actual photo of it would be appreciated.
Avanti83
A picture of yours would be helpful, not sure which trans you have. Could be original could be any number of replacements. Edited April 17, 2018 by Avanti83

This is a picture borrowed from the SDC website. I'm a GM tranny guy so I'm not sure what you are referring to.
studegary
I know that this is not your picture or work. Please do not lift an Avanti in the manner depicted in that picture. With that type of lift, extend the arms in to lift under the frame.
Norman Hansen
no link came up. I also do mostly GM stuff. This is nothing like a GM. I tried to tack it back on with a wire welder but the tin is too thin and the t/c too thick so used JB weld. so far so good. See how it reacts to heat. I love the way this trans shifts but if it has to come out a 2004r is going back in.
