jlportugal
Hi, I am restoring the electricity of my 1981 Avanti. While removing the ashtray next to the gearbox, I have discovered a bulb underneath . The ashtray was not lightened when I bought the car, so I have no idea how it works. This bulb is not fixed to the ashtray and not visible, so how could it lighten the ashtray as there is no opening. Thank you for your answer Jean Louis
Gunslinger
It's probably the bulb that illuminates the shifter dial to show what gear the car is in at night.
brad
The ash tray is not lit....the LIGHTER is however. there should be two oblong slots in the lighter housing. The bulb holder clips into those, it's only visible when the element is removed. I guess they wanted you to be able to return the element to the recepticle in the dark.
