mfg
The 'X' member portion of a 1964 Avanti frame is identical to the 'X' member portion of a 1981 Avanti frame!
Gunslinger
I doubt it. Avanti Motors ran out of original frames in the later 1970s and switched to lighter gauge Lark-type frames with modifications to bring them up to strength. Besides adding the outriggers as body mounts the X-member would have had to be added.
mfg
Gunslinger thinks that the frame 'X' members would not be identical on a '64 and '81 Avanti....Any other thoughts on this?
plwindish
This one has been hanging out there for a while. I would also tend to agree that the X member was different. What's the answer?
mfg
The answer is:...... Although the 'X' members are interchangeable between the two year Avanti frames,....the cutouts in their vertical sections (where the exhaust passes through) are decidedly different to accomodate the later catalytic converter equipped exhaust system.....Answer indeed is FALSE!
