Footer Posted May 20 Report Posted May 20 The brake light on the dash between the speedometer and tac has decided to come on. Reservoir is full. Brake pedal good. Is there a sensor on the proportioning valve or maybe a bad switch on the emergency brake handle? Thanks, Mike
mfg Posted May 20 Report Posted May 20 (edited) The parking brake switch could be faulty, or out of adjustment… or wire may have bad contact at proportioning valve. Edited May 20 by mfg
Footer Posted June 19 Author Report Posted June 19 So the light is for the emergency brake and some type of brake malfunction or it could just be a bad connection?
JimM Posted Tuesday at 01:44 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 01:44 AM Yes it is for the parking brake only. There is a momentary switch mounted on the parking brake shaft under the dash on my 1975 that may be the problem. Mine was broken and disconnected but after seven years of trying to figure it out, eureka! It finally works.

Glad it worked out!… Another important function of that same light is to alert driver if one or the other side of the car’s hydraulic brake system has failed.
